Often the most important and unique assets of any commercial district are its historic resources—those historic buildings, landscapes, and design elements that distinctively reflect the community’s story and its ‘sense of place.’ BDI has worked with client communities to help them consider updates to their historic preservation programs and processes to sustain and enhance the local preservation ethic. In addition, BDI has also reviewed proposals for adaptive re-use of historic buildings in client communities, incorporating knowledge of successful development economics with an understanding of the inherent market appeal and adaptability of historic buildings
